Hi! I’m Beth, an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach & Functional Nutrition Practitioner and the owner of Off the Plate.
Throughout my life, I have worn many hats; wife, mother, teacher, writer, photographer, ceramic artist and pottery instructor.
As I got older, perimenopause began taking a toll on me, body and mind. I was slowing down, gaining weight, and viewing life through a thick mental fog. Everywhere I looked, someone claimed to have ‘the answer’ and yet nothing felt right for me. Frustrated but determined, I found Integrative Nutrition Health Coaching and then Functional Nutrition. There wasn’t one big ‘ah-ha’ moment, as much as there many little steps that helped me find my unique path back to health and wellness.
As I moved through this journey, I found a collective of women who, like me, felt lost and defeated, ever preyed on by diet programs and forgotten by many in the medical industry. Trying to navigate through this season of life often feels like trying to force yourself into a box that doesn’t quite fit, belittles rather than uplifts you, and drains your bank account. Even those who want to help (yes, there are some amazing doctors/practitioners out there!) are often restrained by a one-size-fits-all wellness strategy.
I decided to start Off the Plate as a way to help women and give back to my community. Every person is an individual with unique needs, desires, and goals. Nutrition, of course, plays a major role in our health, but so much of our wellness is tied to facets of life that are ‘off the plate.’ Together we will carve a path towards the happiest, healthiest version of you, both inside and out. We will take a team approach with you at the helm. There is power in taking control of your own journey and having the ultimate say - after all, no one knows you better than you!
I believe that health should not be dependent on one’s financial means. I do not include prices on this website for a reason: my fees are on a sliding scale and I will work with you within your budget. I also take on a number of pro bono cases each year. Everyone should feel empowered to live their healthiest life!
We are all works in progress and when we team up and help each other, magic is made.
**While my focus is on perimenopausal and menopausal women, I am happy to talk with anyone who might need assistance. Even if I am not the right match for you, I can try to put you in contact with someone who fits your needs.
